If you've never studied Greek before and are looking for a course that starts with the absolute basics, then this course is for you. You'll begin with the Greek alphabet and simple phrases, gradually building up your skills in a supportive and engaging environment. This course is tailored to help you feel confident in your ability to learn and use Greek in everyday situations. Whether you're planning a trip to Greece, want to communicate with Greek-speaking friends or family, or simply enjoy learning new languages, this course will meet your needs.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Recognise and write the Greek alphabet, enabling the reading and writing of simple words and phrases
* Understand and use basic Greek greetings and introductions, including how to greet people, introduce oneself, and ask simple questions
* Engage in simple conversations about everyday topics such as ordering food, asking for directions, and shopping
* Understand basic grammar and sentence structure, allowing for the construction of simple sentences
* Develop listening and pronunciation skills to improve the understanding of spoken Greek and practice correct pronunciation

You will also be asked to think of Personal Aims to individualise your learning experience, as well as another benefits the course may have.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
