Who can join this course

This course is designed for individuals who are interested in improving their lip reading skills to enhance communication in various settings. It is ideal for those who have some basic knowledge of lip reading and wish to advance their abilities. This course is suitable for people with hearing impairments, professionals working with the hearing impaired, and anyone who wants to develop their lip reading skills for personal or professional reasons.

If you find yourself needing to improve your ability to understand spoken language through lip reading, want to enhance your communication skills in noisy environments, are preparing to support someone with hearing loss, or wish to build confidence in your lip reading abilities, then this course is perfect for you. It is also beneficial for those looking to improve their overall communication skills and understanding of non-verbal cues.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Recognize and interpret a wider range of lip movements and facial expressions
* Improve the ability to understand spoken language through lip reading in various contexts
* Enhance communication skills in noisy or challenging listening environments
* Develop strategies to support effective communication with individuals who have hearing impairments
* Build confidence in your lip reading abilities and apply them in everyday situations

You will also be asked to think of Personal Aims to individualise your learning experience, as well as another benefits the course may have.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.
