You must meet the entry requirements for the course
- You must be a UK national, or an Irish national, or an EEA national with pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement scheme
- You must have been resident in the UK or an EEA country continuously for the 3 years preceding the start date of your course. For learners living in the Greater London Authority area only you must have valid permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months in duration from the start date of your course.
- You must be aged 19 or over as at the 31st August 2024 for courses in the 2024/25 academic year
- You must agree to commit to and complete an Individual Learning Plan in agreement with your course tutor
Who can join this course
Kent Family Learning courses and workshops are free for parents, carers and grandparents, who are aged 19 years and above and who live in Kent and are intended to help create a better family life. All courses are funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and are FREE to eligible learners. To be eligible you must be able to answer ’yes’ to BOTH statements below:
1. Have you been living in the UK or an EEA country continuously for at least 3 years prior to the learning start date, and
2. Are you a UK national, or Irish national or do you have pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme?
Please speak with us if you cannot answer ‘yes’ to both statements as you may be able to gain a place if you can provide suitable residency evidence.
Is this course for me
Welcome to "Builders and Boffins" – a dynamic workshop designed to create curiosity and creativity of families through engaging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities. In this hands-on course, families will have the opportunity to extend their knowledge of STEM concepts while having fun together.
Throughout the workshop, families will explore a variety of STEM activities tailored to different age groups:
Mini Builders and Boffins (Ages 3-5): Young learners will engage in age-appropriate STEM activities designed to introduce them to basic STEM concepts. Children will discover the wonders of STEM through play and exploration.
Little Builders and Boffins (Ages 6-11): Older children will dive deeper into STEM concepts through more advanced activities that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and experimentation. Children will gain hands-on experience with STEM principles while unleashing their creativity.
Led by experienced facilitators, "Builders and Boffins" offers a supportive and collaborative environment where families can work together to plan and create their STEM projects. Whether you're exploring the world of STEM for the first time or looking to expand your knowledge, this workshop provides an exciting opportunity to learn and grow together as a family.
