Who can join this course

Some prior knowledge or experience of computing is required or prior attendance on the 'Computing -
Gold - Skills for the Workplace' course. This course is suitable if you are self-taught and currently use
a computer in an office environment but you would like to further develop your knowledge, skills and
confidence.

Is this course for me

This 'Computing - Platinum - Advanced Skills for the Workplace' course will enable you to
further develop the computing skills relevant to the workplace.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Confidently utilise some of the advanced features of Microsoft® Word and Excel
* Revise main features of Microsoft® PowerPoint and (depending on students' ability) produce presentations
* There may also be an opportunity to look at an additional topic that is of interest to the group.

What will I need for my course

A notepad and pen. It is also recommended that you have access to a computer and internet to be
able to practise between sessions what is covered in the lessons.

Venue Information

There is no parking on site, but a public car park is available nearby.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

There is no application process; you may simply register. However, please note that this course assumes a strong baseline of prior knowledge or practical experience of basic computing. Prior attendance on the 'Computing - Gold - Skills for the Workplace' course (or equivalent) is therefore recommended.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
