Who can join this course

This is one of our Tailored learning Level 1 Lower Intermediate courses. This course is for learners who have not studied with us previously in Languages at Level 2 or above. It is also for learners who have completed their total of 120 guided learning hours at Entry level (First Steps / Further Steps) in Languages and wish to progress to the next level.
Eligible learners may enrol onto Language courses at Level 1 up to a maximum of 120 guided learning hours in total.
If you have already reached the maximum guided learning hours in level 1 Languages, please speak to your tutor or another member of our team about your next progression steps.

This course follows on from our Beginners Plus. Students need to either have completed one of our Beginners Plus courses or have studied GCSE (D/E grades) or have studied the language for approximately 100 hours and who can express themselves and understand simple information relating to personal, work or social matters.

If you are unsure of your level, please carry out our self-assessment test available on www.kentadulteducation.co.uk. The assessment provides a score to help you choose the best course for you. If you are still unsure, speak to a member of staff in a centre or to a Curriculum Leader.

Is this course for me

This is an online/Live course delivered via zoom. This course is suitable for anyone who would like to start going deeper into the language for personal/working growth. In this course you will work towards gaining skills useful for the workplace and will help you to listen and respond to information from a range of sources like telephone messages, simplified news headlines/public announcements, instructions, conversations and also grasp general meaning of written material (e-mails, mobile text messages, letters, notices, leaflets etc).
You will learn within a group with a very supportive and specialised tutor.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
