Who can join this course

Kent Family Learning courses and workshops are free for parents, carers and grandparents, who are aged 19 years and above and who live in Kent and are intended to help create a better family life. All courses are funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and are FREE to eligible learners. To be eligible you must be able to answer ’yes’ to BOTH statements below:

1. Have you been living in the UK or an EEA country continuously for at least 3 years prior to the learning start date, and
2. Are you a UK national, or Irish national or do you have pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme?

Please speak with us if you cannot answer ‘yes’ to both statements as you may be able to gain a place if you can provide suitable residency evidence.

Is this course for me

Welcome to "Supporting ADHD in the Home" – a supportive and informative course designed to help parents and caregivers understand and navigate the challenges of ADHD within the home environment. In this program, learners will explore the characteristics of ADHD and learn practical strategies for creating a supportive and nurturing environment for their child.

Throughout "Supporting ADHD in the Home," learners will have the opportunity to share ideas and strategies for managing behaviour, recognizing their child's strengths and abilities, and celebrating the positives of ADHD. By fostering open discussions and sharing experiences, participants will gain valuable insights into effective ways to support their child's unique needs.

From creating structured routines to implementing positive reinforcement techniques, this course provides practical guidance on managing behaviour and promoting positive outcomes for children with ADHD. Learners will also learn how to create a supportive and inclusive environment that celebrates their child's strengths and encourages their growth and development.

Course aims

This course will offer:

* Explore the categories of ADHD
* Share ideas and strategies for managing behaviour
* Celebrate the positives of ADHD

Since this course can run over different time frames, the aims will be amended to fit in with the time allocation and the learner requirements.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.
