If you have ever wanted or needed to learn how to use Sign Language to communicate with Deaf people, then our new range of British Sign Language courses will give you that opportunity.
Our British Sign Language (BSL) courses can lead to a Level 1 or Level 2 Signature Award in British Sign Language. If you want to learn how to communicate with Deaf people in everyday situations or just have a keen interest in learning this language, then these courses will benefit you.
Our specialist tutors will help you to communicate in areas and subjects including:
- Greetings, the weather, transport and directions
- People, animals and objects in the home
- Interests and activities using numbers in relation to age, time and money
- Directions and refreshments
Our BSL courses are taught in small groups and the emphasis is on signed communication, with Sign Language used most of the time. A variety of teaching strategies will be used, e.g. demonstration and explanation by the tutor who signs, along with small group and pair work, whole class exercises, videos and games.
I've really enjoyed it - thank you! There has been an upbeat and supportive atmosphere in the classes, and learning BSL has been fun and interesting. We have covered a lot of topics which has given me a broad introduction to sign language and the Deaf community, and I feel I have learnt a lot.

I would love nothing more than being able to have a conversation with someone who may otherwise feel isolated and was really pleased when this training become available. I really feel in the time we have; we have learnt so much and covered so many things, far more than I ever imagined we would.
