Tamana being presented with award

Tamana

Tamana enrolled on an English course to improve her language skills, employment chances and to be more active in the community. She is from is from Afghanistan and has two small children. Sometimes in her culture, women are not encouraged to work. Tamana realised that this was something that she wanted to do and last year after listening to another learner in the class talking about the benefits of volunteering, she decided to get herself a volunteering role in a nursery and when she felt more confident. This led to Tamana signing up with the Teaching Agency and is now working part time, as well as working towards her Level 1 reading.

Congratulations Tamana on your outstanding achievement.

Elizabeth Thompson KAE Award Winner

Elizabeth

Elizabeth joined a Creative Writing course with KAE after her colleagues gifted the course to her when she retired as an NHS secretary. The course helped her learn to write creatively after years of writing what other people dictated to her. After putting in many hours in and outside class, she was able to fulfil her dreams of publishing her debut novel, 'Those Restless Souls'. Elizabeth is still enjoying attending our Creative Writing courses.

Congratulations to Elizabeth on publishing your first book.

Janet Glynn KAE Award Winner

Janet

Janet joined our Beginners Plus French language course to gain confidence to converse in French and to keep her mind active. Throughout the course her confidence increased, and she is now fluent with constructing phrases and questions. Despite personal struggles, and at times a lack of confidence in herself, Janet has persisted with French and feels ready to enrol on to an Intermediate course with KAE.

Congratulations to Janet on your well-deserved success.
