This course will be held at Ashford Adult Education Centre in Ashford Gateway .

The course will introduce students to six artists from the Victorian Era. Students will have the opportunity to explore the ideas of individual artists and find out the background story behind each artwork.

Artists to be explored will be:

James Whistler
Berthe Morisot
John Singer Sargent
Eva Gonzalès
Joaquín Sorolla
Mary Cassatt

Outcomes (by the end of the course students will be able to…..)

• Demonstrate a knowledge of relevant art styles
• Identify the characteristics specific artists
• Recognise the influences of selected artists
• Develop and justify point of view
• Take part in discussion with other students

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Deborah Crofts

Deborah Crofts is a practicing artist with a studio on the South Coast of Kent. She has a BA Fine Art from the University of East London and a PGCE gained at the University of Greenwich.
