Thoughts feelings and behaviours are all linked. By making links between what we do, think and feel, CBT can help us make changes in the way we think ("Cognitive") and the way we act ("Behaviour").

This course will look specifically at the Negative Core Beliefs we set for ourselves, believe about others or which have become ingrained. You will learn how they can affect our choices, behaviours and create stress. You will explore how our negative bias seeks confirmation of negative core beliefs. This will include going through a particular case on anxiety - which can be a crippling condition. You will look at triggers and questioning techniques, including use of questionnaires/forms etc, as well as problem solving and coping strategies.

The course is delivered through tutor presentations and small group discussions on reflective activities and is ideal for anybody looking to understand more about anxiety and how CBT can support improvement or for those working in the health field supporting others. It will help you with your own thinking patterns.

This course is educational rather than therapeutic. General broad ideas will be shared and discussed amongst the group. There could be some sharing of personal experiences but this course is not a replacement for personal therapy and this element will be carefully managed by the tutor.

All students will be expected to provide feedback during each session and encouraged to continue their practise outside the classroom.
