This 'Certifcate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision CPCAB Level 6' course in Sittingbourne Adult Education Centre, is for experienced counsellors and psychotherapists who want to learn the skills of supervision in order to practice as a clinical supervisor.

You need to have post-qualifying experience in your own clinical practice under supervision, with at least 450 hours. You will need to be working as a supervisor or have secured a placement as a clinical supervisor.

The course will run Friday and Saturday once a month so 6 x 2 day modules, over 6 months.


Module 1- 22nd and 23rd November

Module 2 - 10th and 11th January

Module 3 - 7th and 8th February

Module 4 - 15th and 16th March

Module 5 - 25th and 26th April

Module 6 - 30th and 31st May

You will be equipped to manage the fundamental aspects of the clinical supervisor role, with emphasis on the development of your own coherent model for supervision, using theories introduced and your own reading and research to inform your practice.

Learning at this level will be educational, collaborative and creative, allowing opportunity for self and professional development, and a deepening of your theoretical understanding, as it both informs and underpins your practice.

There will be opportunity for developing your capacity for working creatively with both groups and individuals in supervision, which is additional to the course requirements.

- Understanding basic group dynamics within supervision, including transference and countertransference
- Ethical and legal aspects of supervision
- Working with diversity in supervision

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Jay Ford

Jay Ford has Diplomas in Counselling & Supervision. Her core model is Person Centered, developed further for Integrative counselling and creative therapies.

Jay works in private practise and runs her own Counselling business "EDIFY" . She works with adults, young people & children. Jay has supported children emotionally for more than 20 years and uses creative material in her work for all ages. Her passion is to share knowledge and create therapeutic space to enable people to find their path to healing and growth.

As a tutor, Jay has developed and delivered CPCAB Counselling qualification courses up to Level 6, Parenting courses (Incredible Years) and workshops on Self Esteem, Bereavement, Child Emotional development, Relationships, and more.

How will I be taught?

The course is assessed as follows:
- On-going assessments through self, peer and tutor feedback
- All modules are assessed through course work and an externally submitted case study
- Assignments include essays, presentations and reflective journals

Each portfolio must include:
- Learning review
- Supervisee record (15 hours)
- Supervisory supervision record (5 hours)
- 2 written assignments (2,500 words)
- 2 Self-reviews
- 1 tutor observed supervision practice session.
- 1 case presentation.

On successful completion, you will be qualified to work as a Therapeutic Counsellor Supervisor.

What do I need to bring with me?

You will need a computer/ laptop with Microsoft word, and a camera. Notebook and pens.

What do I need to join the course

You will need a Level 4 or Level 5 qualification.
You will need a minimum 2 years post qualifying experience.
You will need to be accredited or eligible for BACP Accreditation and have a minimum of 450 supervised client hours. We would also consider people that do not quite have the 450 hours via the approved prior learning route.

Candidates will be asked to provide 2 references, one from your most recent clinical supervisor and a personal reference. The personal referee must have known the candidate for at least 2 years. (Not a family member).
