Course Information: Online Live via Zoom
o This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.
o Chinese characters are one of the earliest forms of written language in the world and are still in use today. There are more than 47000 Chinese characters that have evolved during history of China. From Small Seal Characters to Regular Script and now Simplified Chinese characters (Hanzi) used today in Mainland China, the art of writing is an integral of Chinese culture.
o This course aims at giving opportunities to learn and practice simple Chinese characters to enhance your learning of the language and also provide a kinaesthetic learning environment. For those who are not learning Chinese Mandarin, this is an exciting course where you discover the art of writing Chinese calligraphy with Chinese brush & ink, for current everyday life Chinese characters.
o This workshop will have a Famous Chinese Myths theme. You will learn to say and write simple keywords and get an overview of interesting cultural facts or stories in relation to the theme. Chinese pronunciation of the written symbols will be practiced throughout the session.

o You may also use your new acquired skills to produce some simple artwork and show off in your greeting cards!

How will I be taught?

The language tutor will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will work individually and in small groups, exploring the methods of writing simple Chinese characters. The tutor will give feedback throughout the session.

What do I need to have with me?

Students will need to buy Chinese calligraphy brush, ink & paper, prior to the workshop.
