How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will keep a notebook and update an individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. Students will need to understand the potential benefit from the programme of study, read and interpret ideas, communicate responses that are clear, logical and understandable and manage your own time.

What do I need to bring with me?

Students have to cover the cost of their own materials. The cost will vary according to the scale of the work produced, but the tutor will advise on the approximate costs of each project. Please bring any materials and equipment you have that might be appropriate to the course. All students should bring a small note book to keep notes of processes and techniques. It may also be beneficial to bring some own sourced fabrics with which you might like to print onto. Your tutor will advise how and which techniques may be suitable for your individual piece of fabric.

Do not worry if you don't have any materials before the course commences as your tutor will advise you in the first session.

What can I do next?

Courses are designed to progress students to higher levels of the craft and also to support application to Access to Art and Degree Foundation courses or relevant Craft, Art and Design Degree courses. During your course, your tutor will guide you with additional information regarding career opportunities, self employment and further education. You can also view our Microsoft Sway for Creative Crafts CEIAG (Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance)
