In this Creative Writing course in Canterbury you will develop a writing discipline through class writing exercises and weekly assignments. You will explore both how to write creatively and how to write effectively. You can choose whether to write from your own life or fiction. You will also explore another aspect of creative writing, such as poetry or play writing., There is an expectation that you will share your writing in class and learn to give and receive constructive feedback. You will have the opportunity to review and refine your work to achieve at least a couple of finished pieces with which you are satisfied., , The four learning outcomes for this course are: 1) Enhance a regular writing habit by completing weekly writing exercises. 2) Contribute to class discussions and give and receive constructive comment. 3) Create characters and use different points of view. 4) Use the senses to improve your writing skills, including description and imagery., , , , There is limited parking on site, but there is a public car park nearby and on-street parking.

How will I be taught?

Our tutors strive to create a relaxed and informal atmosphere where students can work at an appropriate pace. Teaching methods are varied, incorporate many styles including some one-to-one tuition and are adapted to enable students to achieve their full potential. We will discuss options with you and do our best to provide the support you would like., Your tutor will assess your progress against the outcomes of he course and your own personal outcomes and will offer advice and guidance on how you are doing. You will also complete an ILP to record and monitor your progress and achievements.

, This course is for anyone who enjoys reading and would like to explore their own creativity and discover if they have a talent for writing including fiction. , You will need to have at least Level 1 English and to enjoy reading other authors' work.
