This course will introduce beginners to the basics of drawing and painting, developing your skills and confidence. For those with more experience, you will learn new techniques and improve your skills further. Students will explore a variety of painting and drawing techniques and take inspiration from different artists and other sources to inform your work. , , By the end of the course, you should be able to:, • Demonstrate and understand relevant techniques ., • Demonstrate successful use of relevant tools, equipment and resources , • Use appropriate methods to collect ideas, research and experimentation , • Successfully review and evaluate your own work, • Research and evaluate the work of others to inform your own work and development , • Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines , , There is no set ‘homework’, but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home., There is no qualification for this course.,

Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Christopher Bone
Christopher Bone MA Fine Art. Chris established a studio in Folkestone in 1985 and has since developed a reputation as an accomplished painter, exhibiting regular in Kent and London. He teaches the principles and techniques of drawing and painting in all mediums, making reference to the history of art as appropriate.
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress., ,
What do I need to bring with me?
If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you to the first session.
