This course is designed to teach students the basic techniques to drawing and painting and develop confidence and skills through a range of weekly tutored workshops. Students will explore a range of exciting materials, colour creation, light and shade, as well as artistic styles, applying techniques and tips to landscape, still life and personal projects.
This course will be informative, challenging and fun.
By the end of the course students should be able to -
-Demonstrate how to mix at least 3 new colours from the three primary colours.
-Create a drawing of a still life study using negative space and angles,
-Blend watercolour or acrylic pigments to match resource images.
-Demonstrate using at least 2 different techniques to create a visual impression of an image.

Sue Wyatt holds: A BA Hons in Fine Art , , Chelsea School of Art (University of the Arts, London) , , Post graduate certificate in Education., , Sue has been teaching for 25 years. Her own work is drawn from landscape and life., , She believes that learning is essentially a continuous process: through drawing we can explore the world in a different way, increase our awareness and widen our creative experiences., , The atmosphere in the class is open and friendly.

How will I be taught?

Each class will commence with clear learning outcomes and usually a tutor demonstration, taking you step by step through the process. One to one guidance and feedback is an essential part of learning and development, along with group discussions and informal critiques. You will be encouraged to keep a sketchbook/notebook and complete an individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress.
You will receive feedback from your tutor throughout the course.

What do I need to bring with me?

First week - Please bring a variety of pencils (HB and 2B are ideal). During the course you will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Please do not buy anything until you are sure the course is running and the tutor will advise you on further purchase at the start of the course.
