Would you like to develop drawing skills you may not have used since school or would you like to further the basic skills you have already have? If so then this Beginners Drawing course is for you.

In this course, the Tutor will set drawing projects to help you develop skills in the basics of observational drawing using a variety of drawing materials including pencil and charcoal.

By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Demonstrate your observational skills through your drawings
- Apply different techniques to produce a series of drawings on a variety of scales
- Confidently attempt a still life with appropriate tonal qualities
- Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines

Suzanne's professional name is Suzanne Norfolk. She is a professional portrait artist living and working in Kent. She has a B.A. Hons. degree in Fine Art and has been painting for over 30 years. She has given private personal tuition to a number of people. She is interested in expressive movement, light and life and works with her clients to create striking pieces expressing their personality and sensuality. Although she concentrates on figurative works, Suzanne’s work extends from pastels to oils and portraits to landscapes. Her work is held in private collections and she has exhibited across the UK. Notable pieces include the Bearsted Plaque, Roseacre School Plaque and a portrait of Frank Woolley - the Kent Cricketer

How will I be taught?

Your Tutor will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you are a new student to this subject and have no materials, please wait for your Tutor's advice at the first session on what to buy. However, you should bring with you an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound. Also, please bring a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate, please bring these with you.
