Create a series of beautiful drawings and sketches using artists pencils , charcoal, pen, coloured pencils and pastel .
During the term you will cover: Observational drawing, different ways to shade, Creating expressive marks in charcoal and adding colour.
You will get the opportunity to understand facial proportions with portraiture and perspective, use traditional technique plus fun experimental ways to work to plus explore possibilities with dry mediums.
You can identify and choose different ways to shade in pencil different objects
You can demonstrate drawing a face using measuring and proportioning
You can use willow charcoal to create a large scale drawing
You can identify and draw simple street scene in perspective

How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you are a new student to the arts and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, you should have an A3 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please have them with you
