This Drawing for Beginners course aims to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for learners to embark on their artistic Journey, helping them to build a strong foundation, gain confidence and discover their unique creative voice in the world of art.

The course will familiarise beginners with the essential drawing techniques such as line work, shaping, perspective, and composition providing a solid foundation to develop your drawing skills so you can progress to the next level. Through guided exercises and constructive feedback the course aims to boost learners confidence in their drawing abilities and encourage them to explore their creative potential. The course will introduce learners to a variety of drawing materials including graphite charcoal include an pastels allowing them to experiment and find their preferred medium.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

- Demonstrate proficiency in using the lighting, and shading, and prospective to create visual well-composed drawings.
- Draw from observation and references to capture the details and proportion.
- identifying the principles of using light and shadow of to create three dimensional forms into your drawings
- Work to health and safety guidelines

How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook..Learners will need to understand the potential benefit from the programme of study, read and interpret ideas, communicate responses that are clear, logical and understandable and manage your own time. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.

You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements.
If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
