Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Gail Anselmi

Trained at both Medway College of Art and Design and Campbell College of Art, where she completed a BA ( Hons) Degree in the History of Drawing and Print making. She has exhibited both locally and in London and is currently adding the finishing touches to a Landscape exhibition executed in a range of mediums.
As well as practising as a professional artist, she has taught here and in Spain, demonstrating and explaining how various art related mediums can be used both in a contemporary capacity and historical one. She ran an art business for eleven years, but now focuses mainly on teaching/ demonstration as well as finding the inspiration to complete her own work. Drawing on her knowledge of ancient paint preparation and museum training, she is able to explain the artists approach, relative to their place in history.
She believes that art should be enjoyable and accessible to all and passionately promotes the arts, attempting to ensure that learning at any level is informative and fun.

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. Students will need to understand the potential benefit from the programme of study, read and interpret ideas, communicate responses that are clear, logical and understandable and manage your own time. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.
Your tutor will provide feedback and your progress will be recorded on your Individual Learning Plan (ILP)

What do I need to have with me?

You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own ‘shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices.
