Italian Upper Intermediate - Summer Course

The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Italian culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Homework set will provide an opportunity for self study including the use of on-line resources. Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student's starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and targets will be set. This will be revisited from time to time during the course to monitor and record progress. Tutors will mark homework and give written or verbal feedback.

The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.

Students can progress with another Upper Intermediate course. After a year of study, the next course will be an Intermediate Plus course. The tutor or Curriculum Leader can advise on the most suitable course for you, or check www.kentadulteducation.co.uk.
During your course your tutor will offer guidance in relation to your personal progression route. Courses are designed to progress you to further study or into employment. For anybody who is looking to improve the practical speaking and listening skills needed to cope with a range of real life situations more complex than those at Lower Intermediate level. This course follows on from our Lower Intermediate course. Students need to either have completed one of our Lower Intermediate courses or have studied GCSE (A/C grades) or have studied the language for approximately 150 hours and who can express themselves and understand information relating to personal, work or social matters.
