This studio course is for anyone wanting to combine their art practice with the historical context surrounding their creativity. The tutor for the course will start you looking at contemporary artists, how their work has developed and how this can affect your own practice.
You will over the two weeks create drawings and paintings based on using an artist as a precedent in your ideas. You will consider how you use composition and thumb nail drawings to inform your work, and explore artists ideas from sketches to final ideas with the support of the tutor who is a practising artist. This course is not for the beginner to the subject but for someone who would like the time and space to explore what they are capable of when given a safe space in which to do this.

How will I be taught?

Tutors will use demonstrations, group work and individualised tuition to meet your learning needs.

What do I need to bring with me?

All the necessary art materials will be provided, you will need to bring an apron if you would like to protect your clothes as art can be a messy activity.
