This is an online course delivered in a friendly virtual learning environmen leading to a Functional Skills (FS) qualification. Functional Skills courses can be joined at any time of the year, although classes start in September. Course levels start from Entry Level 1 and progress to Level 2.

Functional Skills English classes help you gain the skills to plan and write letters, emails and reports for work, focusing on spelling, grammar and punctuation and how to formulate your written work so that it flows logically and sequentially. The course is assessed by two written examinations and these take
place throughout the year. There is also a speaking and listening examination that will be done in the class.

Functional Skills Plus maths classes cover the skills for everyday tasks, or those required at work.

These skills include measuring distances, calculating areas for home decoration and improvement, calculating cooking times for recipes, understanding payslips and work rotas. The course is assessed by one written examination.

Further information regarding the course specification can be in obtained from your tutor once you have been placed into a class.
Please note: this course will require an initial assessment, regular attendance, a high level of commitment and at least two hours of home study per week as set by the tutor.
