Learn to paint with oils and acrylics. This oil painting and acrylics course provides you with an opportunity to learn and apply the skills and techniques, of oil painting or acrylics as well as to acquire some understanding of the subject.By the end of this art course you should be able to have developed your skills in mixing colours, know how to mix dark tones without using black paint, how to demonstrate proportion, distance, tonal values and various painting techniques.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Victoria Wainwright
Victoria Wainwright is a professional Artist and Illustrator specialising in pen and ink and printmaking but with a varied background in illustration techniques and briefs. She regularly undertakes commission work where illustration is a feature, and has illustrated a number of published books. Victoria's main interest is in drawing people, capturing their movement and character.
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring whatever paints and brushes that you already have. If you can, please bring a 1/2 inch flat brush ( or similar), some acrylic/ oil paper ( you can also buy paper in centre) and red ( eg. Alizarin) , blue (eg. ultramarine) , yellow ( eg. Lemon) and titanium white paint. Winsor Newton galleria range, Daler Rowney or Liquitex are good ranges. Then your tutor will advise you on what else you need.
If you are new to oil and acrylic, it is advisable to start with acrylic. You can paint in either or both.

What do I need to join the course
This course is for those with experience of some experience of painting.
It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity for you to participate fully and get the most out of the course.
