This course is for those wanting to continue their recorder studies and improve their recorder technique and musical interpretation. The course will consist of mainly ensemble playing with solo pieces set for students home study.
By the end of the course you will be able to :
1) Play simple recorder ensemble pieces in 3 or 4 parts with other members of the group
2) Play pieces confidently in time with other members of the group
3) Be able to hold your own part as part of the ensemble
4) Work on improving technique through solo study homework with tutor help.
Descant and treble recorders accommodated. Suitable for players with at least a years experience.

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Frances Rowberry

Frances Rowberry graduated from the University of York with a BA(Hons) in Music. She also has a diploma in performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is currently continuing her studies with the renowned soprano Julie Kennard in London. For the past five years, she has taught music privately to a wide range of age of ages and abilities, as well as furthering her own musical career through singing with choirs and solo performances.

How will I be taught?

The main focus during lessons will be ensemble playing, with solo pieces being given for students to work on at home. There will be a mixture of tutor input, exercises and practice. Progress will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan.

What do I need to bring with me?

You will need to bring:
A descant or treble recorder (any make - doesn't need to be expensive)
A note book
A folder for handouts.

Don't buy anything for the course until you are sure it is going to run.

What do I need to join the course

This course is suitable for those who have studied the basics of the recorder and wish to continue their studies in a friendly and fun group. A minimum of one year of recorder playing experience will be necessary. Descant and Treble instruments can be accommodated. If you have played at school or college or in an orchestra within the past 5 years please contact our local centre and ask to speak to the tutor.
