On this Watercolour beginners and improvers course in Sevenoaks, students will be introduced to fundamental watercolour techniques including washes and glazes and experimental techniques and also how to create distance, tonal ranges, compositions and understand the colour wheel.
Classes will be relaxed and friendly and involve experimentation with a range of techniques in a structured tutor led programme. By working from both direct observation and from photographic references and hopefully weather permitting outside.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Victoria Wainwright
Victoria Wainwright is a professional Artist and Illustrator specialising in pen and ink and printmaking but with a varied background in illustration techniques and briefs. She regularly undertakes commission work where illustration is a feature, and has illustrated a number of published books. Victoria's main interest is in drawing people, capturing their movement and character.
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including looking at artists, demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques.
What do I need to bring with me?
Bring any watercolour and paper that you already have (e.g. the primary colours Winsor and Newton ultramarine, alizarin red and lemon yellow, a no 12 round brush Water colour paper will be provided The tutor can advise you of any further materials that you may wish to buy in order to progress. You can also buy various papers at the centre.
