On this Art course you will look at a range of watercolour techniques, styles and processes. You will experience a broad cross-section of the subject, whilst also being encouraged to explore your own personal stylistic choices and projects with tutor support. Sessions will be mostly tutor led, with clear demonstrations given throughout when required. This course is for those who have some experience of watercolour already and wish to expand their skill and knowledge base further.
By the end of the course you should be able to:
Use tone to create convincing 3D form
Depict trees using at least 3 different techniques
Create depth in a landscape through tone and atmospheric perspective
Work in layers to achieve richness of colour
Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines


How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.

What do I need to bring with me?

All students should have an A3 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
