About this course

How can mood and atmosphere emanate from the choice of literary device? This is a course to initiate new writing and to facilitate playwrights.
Script - writing ongoing sessions will "make space" for creating texts in the medium of Drama and Theatre. You will discover the appropriate language, mode and genre with which to generate new plays.
Creative exploration through improvisation will encourage writers to script scenes which encompass dynamic human interaction of character. The choice of interactive language written down in the scripts will facilitate the Performance Text. Devising techniques will be used to inspire Language development in the expression of character, interaction theme and setting.
By the end of the course, successful students will be able to
-initiate new writing producing a scene each week
-inform the new texts by the multi-dimensional channels of theatre communication
-achieve a "cutting edge" giving voice to emotions to the writing through improvisation
- make informed literary choices in linguistic expression to create mood and atmosphere in the writing
- use appropriate language register to best communicate character, theme and genre in the dramatic setting
-draw inspiration from other playwrights through devising to extend writing further
-participate in critical analysis od work produced (own and others)
- complete the scenes for presentation
