About this course

If you already work in accounting and have previously undertaken an AAT Computerised Accounting Level 1 qualification then this 'AAT Foundation Award in Accounting Software Level 2 - Fast Track' course in Canterbury is for you.

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

- Develop practical accountancy skills in entering accounting transactions into accounting software and performing bank reconciliations;
- Explain the main features of accounting software and be able to enter information correctly;
- Set-up general ledger accounts for new and existing businesses;
- Process typical bookkeeping entries, including sales and purchase documentation, recording bank and cash entries, and carrying out bank reconciliations;
- Produce reports using the software and explain purpose of these reports.

**PLEASE NOTE: You must pay a £43 membership fee directly to AAT in order to register for their exams. You can do this once the course has started. The membership fee covers a one year period and can be paid once the course has started. The membership fee covers the registration of all AAT exams taken within a 12 month period. Membership provides you with access to online learning materials which will support you with your study and a monthly magazine.**

**PLEASE NOTE: As this is an accredited course, regular attendance, a high level of commitment and approximately 2.5 hours of home study per week are required from you when enrolling on this course. You may be removed from the course if you do not regularly attend. You are advised to read the course syllabus on the AAT website prior to enrolling on the course.**

How will I be taught?

The course will be taught in a relaxed and informal atmosphere with students who attend regularly and complete home study as required. Your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles to support you in achieving your goals. Your individual needs will be taken into consideration.

Throughout the course, your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback on your progress towards the requirements of the qualification.

The course will be formally assessed by one computer-based AAT assessment.

What do I need to bring with me?

Your tutor will advise you at the start of the course.

You will need a calculator (not one built into a mobile phone), a notebook, pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, highlighter and correction fluid or tape. Please also bring a pen, notepad and a ring binder for notes on handouts.

What do I need to join the course

This course is aimed at those who have previously attended a Level 1 computerised accounts course. If you have attended a computerised accounts course with another provider, then you should complete an 'Application of Interest' form as well as a literacy and numeracy initial assessment. If you have not completed a computerised accounts qualification previously, then the Level 1 course would be recommended,

You will need basic computing skills to attend this course and ideally some experience with Sage Accounts software. You should be able to follow spoken and written instructions, read handouts/activities and take part in group discussions.

This course is aimed at those who are developing the skills and knowledge required of bookkeepers. It is suitable for students studying in preparation for employment in bookkeeping roles and for those who are already employed in bookkeeping and/or data processing roles.

About the Tutor: Lin Holder

Before setting up businesses of her own, Lin’s former career has been in sales, and latterly she was a sales & marketing director for a large multi-national company, so she brings to her teaching extensive business knowledge and technical expertise.

Together with her teaching, Lin also runs her own business providing accounting, bookkeeping, training and business services to several companies which means that her practice and expertise is completely up to date.

Lin has been teaching Accounting & Bookkeeping, Payroll and ICT for 10 years and has a DTTLS teaching qualification.
