How will I be taught?
Through one to one tuition and demonstrations relating to each new skill or technique with supporting handouts self-assessment against individualised learning outcomes stated on the ILP. You will be encouraged to make samples to support further projects and given individual guidance for your project.
What do I need to bring with me?
A basic sewing kit is essential. This should include sharp pins, needles, threads, sharp dressmaking scissors, small sharp embroidery scissors and non-permanent fabric marker. If you have fabric for your intended project, please bring it to your first class. Apart from pens and notebooks do not buy any other books or equipment before the start of your course. Details will be discussed at the first session or if necessary your tutor will send a list a week before the course starts. Sewing machines are available for use at the centre but you will need to provide your own machine needles.
