How will I be taught?
Craft courses provide an opportunity for students to learn and develop skills and techniques. Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstration, instructions, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques.
Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practising craftspeople.
At the start of the course you will work with your tutor to develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to set out what you want to achieve by the end of the course. You will both monitor and assess your progress throughout the course to ensure your learning needs are being met. There are no formal exams or tests to complete on this course.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need:
-A pen and notebook
The tutor will discuss anything else you need at the first session. There will be a small cost each week as you will be asked to bring sponge cakes to ice.
Please do not purchase any other equipment until you speak to the tutor during the first session. The tutor will be able to share and lend students some cake tools and materials.
Please be aware that the items produced throughout this course are for educational purposes only, not for consumption
What can I do next?
You can attend further Beginners courses or progress to Improvers courses. Your tutor will be able to advise you on the best route to take.
