What do I need to join the course

Before enrolling on this course, you will need to complete an online application form available at this link Following submission of your application you will need to make arrangements to come into one of our Adult Education Centres to complete a literacy assessment. This checks your suitability for the course and helps identify any additional support required. You will then be offered a choice of interview slots during the period May to July. The interview involves a frank and open discussion with a Counselling tutor about your personal readiness, the content and level of the course which then ensures that you understand the personal, educational and financial commitments.

Places are often taken up quickly so early application is highly recommended.

It is not necessary to have completed an introductory course before enrolling on this course, but we do advise those with no previous listening/helping experience and knowledge to do so.

It is recommended that you don't enrol on this course if you have undergone a life-changing experience during the last 12 months, ie. bereavement. You will be expected to explore some personal history that you feel safe to share but this course is not a replacement for personal therapy.
